Anyway, It shouldnt void the warranty depending where you place it.just dont stick it over the vents. As for the rest of the folks who replied about the warranty, thanks for answering my question. you'll see they are one of the most problematic lines Apple has ever created. So to Krazy Bill, do your research on the rMBP. I may even make a video demonstrating what I'm talking about. I've repaired many computers and laptops (both PC and Apple) and I know that they shouldn't have a large object clunking inside. The fact of the matter is "geniuses" cannot perform any type of repair on this unit, making them a silly, useless middle-man between you and your potential hardware exchange. If you have ever been to an Apple Store inside of the mall, you'll know that they have a tendency to pump their music quite loud. You can call BS all you want, you're still wrong and a troll. This is the only one that has caused us trouble, and the first two replacements were suggested by the geniuses.

My wife and I have a household full of Apple products.
Even those covered under Apple's expensive extended warranty program. Of course, any new products you add wouldnt be covered by Dell, but the Dell stuff still is, presuming you didnt damage it in the process. It only voids the warranty if you damage the OEM (as shipped) equipment you purchased.

I am just curious, does anyone know if opening this thing voids warranty? Additionally, if anyone has experience inside of one of these, any ideas of what to look for? I'm going to start by wiggling the batteries and go from there. Smokers beware: Apple has begun denying warranty coverage on Macs that have been exposed to smoke. It does NOT void the warranty to open the case and upgrade components. I've fixed many a laptop in my time, but this is my first with security screws. I'm at the point of returning the thing once again, but figured I'd take a look inside myself. What's strange is that the looseness of the item increases as the unit heats up, leading me to think that it could be some of the glue that holds the battery in place. He took it into the back room, and apparently opened it and found nothing wrong, and had "15 of his associates" shake it and couldn't feel / hear the rattle.
He couldn't hear or feel the very obvious rattle. I went to the Apple Store and had a "genius" look at it. After a week of usage, something is very loose inside of the unit, and it feels quite large (like the battery isn't glued in, or a board is missing a screw, etc). This is my third replacement (first one had bad battery, second on had broken hinge). I have a Macbook Pro 15" Retina model with those annoying pentalobe security screws.
